State Government and Web Accessibility

Web accessibility is both commercially desirable and socially responsible. It is being slowly driven by the courts, and by public embarrassment. RiverDocs enables organisations achieve accessibility for online publications.

Commonwealth and State Government has a role in promoting, and delivering best practice in online document accessibility.

New South Wales
Anti-Discrimination Board of New South Wales, is part of the NSW Attorney General’s Department. It administers the Anti-Discrimination laws of New South Wales.

South Australia
South Australia Equal Opportunity Commission provides information about equal opportunity (EO) in a range of publications and fact sheets and on its website.

Tasmania
The Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner (OADC) co-operates with all Tasmanians in working towards a world where discrimination, prejudice, bias and prohibited conduct are indicators of a history that is no longer with us.

Queensland
The Anti-Discrimination Commission Queensland is an independent statutory authority which administers the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991. It works to promote equality of opportunity and to protect people from unlawful discrimination.

Victoria
Equal Opportunity Commission of Victoria is an independent statutory body that reports to the Victorian Parliament through the State Attorney-General

Western Australia
Western Australian Equal Opportunity Commission has two roles. To encourage recognition and an understanding of the principles of equal opportunity, and to provide a means of redress to individuals who allege unlawful discrimination.

Australian Capital Territory
ACT Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services is responsible for ensuring that organisational policies and practices reflect the unique needs and desired outcomes for people with a disability and the families who care for them.

Northern Territory
Northern Territory Anti-Discrimination Commission is an independent, impartial body that investigates and helps resolve complaints about discrimination and harassment.
